26|Sep|2009 1Torvald was so ill that Nora had to borrow money on a fraudulent loan application (women not being permitted to borrow money in their own names, then), in order to keep him alive. To protect his pride and professional standing as a lawyer, and conceal her own fraud in doing so, Nora has kept this dealing secret from Torvald, and paid on her loan, by secretly copying documents in longhand for other lawyers at Torvald’s firm.
