I am making my daughter a barbie doll house. I was wondering if anybody knew any ideas of how i could put lighting in it. I dont want to buy a doll house lighting kit because they are so expensive. Any ideas anybody?
Try some battery powered fairy lights that you can stick along the ceilings of the doll house, you can find them quite cheap on amazon and the battery pack can be stuck round the back of the house and be switched on and off whenever, or you can try some lights like these:http://www.jmldirect.com/product.asp?pf_…
They might be okay as long as the rooms are big enough, but if the rooms/doll house is quite small, they might be a little chunky.
Hope I helped, good luck, I hope you find a solution
Ok, if you’re really on a budget you can pick up a cheap LED flashlight and take it apart, then use the LED’s from it. However, there are LED light kits for dollhouses already available that are quite inexpensive. Here’s a link to a site that offers them, but you can probably find them at any crafts store or radio shack as well. Oh, and by inexpensive, I mean less than 10 dollars for the kit.
If you take a little longer and save to make a better quality doll house, it will last longer and may become an heirloom she can hand down to her children. Other than that piece of advice, I have no idea what you could use for the lighting. Look at the dollhouse lighting kit. Could you replicate it? Also depending on your design working lights may not be necessary. My barbie houses never had working lights.
you could go to radioshack and buy a small light, and a light socket, and a tiny bit of wire, and then make it yourself, but You probably would want a little kid playing with it then.
idk what about those little circular lights that you can “slap”/tap on or off.. i think ive seen them at lowes or home depot..
theyre the type of light that you can stick into closets or dark corners and they dont require any electrical wiring..
I’m wondering if you could disassemble a christmas “candle” and somehow rig that up. The bulb might be too big but it’s an idea. Or those stick up lights, you could use as a big ceiling light.
… Do you know those little Christmas strings off lights?
Well I heard you can get them like tiny in some places (Never heard where)
Anyway might be worth checking out..

They have the battery operated ones and the small strings.
You could also use a small flashlight.
Good luck!!
