yes!!!!!!! torvald controlled her every move and so did her father. nora is going to struggle in the outside world but she needs to be herself and independent. society was corrupting women into closed minded thinking. think about it, would you want to be controlled by everything you do.

05|Jan|2010 1Nora made a very brave move when she left Torvald, for she would have been ostricized by her society and not be able to get a job. Joan Templeton wrote that A Doll House “is no more about women’s rights than Shakespeare’s Richard II is about the divine rights of kings, or Ghosts about syphilis..It’s theme is the need of every individual to find out the kind of person he or she is and strive to be that person.” Carol Strongin Tufts claims “narcissism” is the key trait of each of the characters in A Doll’s House and their motivation for doing what they did. These two ideas are at opposite sides of an argument that each person who reads the story must grapple with. The reality is Obama, Clinton, and McCain are all narcissitic as defined by the Anerican Psychiatric Association. So decide what you believe. I personally believe Nora had to do what she had to do. The mystery is what happens to her afterwards. Did she go back? Probably.
