I am making a doll house sized Victorian home for Interior Design class.
This is what it looks like right now: http://img389.imageshack.us/img389/6929/87224562uh9.jpg
It’s made out of cardboard. It obviously looks terrible and I can’t come up with any ways to fix it up to look more Victorian.
I have until Wednesday to finish it and I’m calling out for help.
The piece of cardboard furthest to the left is a turret. I have measured and cut out windows made of plexiglass to fit, yet I need some ideas on what I should use to make inside and outside window treatments. Any ideas?
Also, does anyone know where I can find Victorian furniture pieces? You know, a Victorian style bed, couch, chair, etc. The house has a total of two rooms, upstairs and downstairs. Having furniture in each goes toward our final grade.
I’m going to Lowes to pick up a few pieces of sticky flooring, so I’m covered on that. They’re only 99 cents a piece. However, I do need to print out wallpaper both for each of

28|Dec|2009 1I have a few suggestions – go to a craft store that sells scrap booking supplies – buy some scrapbook printed paper to decorate your walls. I wood also suggest you could use doilies for bed spreads, curtains, table cloths –
I think some kind of a porch – made with dowels or craft sticks.
You need to paint the box – Old Victorian houses usually have ornate adornments on the house – Scroll work on the porches – check out Victorian homes on the Internet – you can get a lot of ideas from pictures . Use small pocket mirrors for wall mirrors – also you will need some fire places.
While your picking up your wall coverings (scrape book paper) look in the miniatures section of the store – Joanne’s and Michael’s are a good place to look – miniature flowers in vases too.

28|Dec|2009 3Queen Victoria reigned from 1837 to 1901 so there are many styles which can be termed Victorian.
I would searching for William Morris for your wallpaper.
If you put your house on another box to lift it up you can make steps leading up to the door and make railings to surround the house (toothpicks again or match sticks painted black)
Dolls house furniture is very expensive and it doesn’t look as if you have made your house to one of the standard gauges so make your own with cardboard and material.
One quirk of the Victorians was that they thought legs were indecent, even table legs, so they made covers for them. They liked big table centrepieces and lots of frilly bits.
