I would suggest paper mache. Its fun and anyone can do it in fact i used to do it when I was about 5 years old.
You can make almost anything using this technique and its rather simple, just as long as you have the patience to sit there and make something small with it. Another good thing about it is that you dont need alot of materials, just paper (usually newspaper first), a home made paste and some paint to finish it off.
