Ah I did this kind of paper last semester!
The thesis I discussed was marriage…
This was my thesis statement: Henrik Ibsen’s “A Doll’s House” is a beautiful play that portrays the importance of honesty and equality in marriage.
Torvald and Nora’s marriage is centered around on who is the dominant figure in the relationship. Torvald treats Nora as a child, often referring to her as “little pet” and always using the possessive “my” [like "my little sky-lark"] as though Nora was one of his personal objects. He doesn’t treat her equally, just as though she is a doll who is there to look after the children and give him pleasure. Nora even admits to Mrs. Linde that if she became ugly, Torvald wouldn’t love her anymore!!
On the other hand, Mrs. Linde and Krogstad’s relationship is wonderful. Although they were victims of circumstances that led them to fall apart, they still hold genuine love for one another.
Those are just a couple thoughts to I had right off the bat. I love this play, which is why I got into this. If you need more help you can always contact me!!

28|Nov|2009 2I think you should argue that Krogstad and Helmer are gay, and the play is *really* about their unfulfilled longing for each other.
