I did not have this story in my syllabus but read it from another text book. So going by her story A Cup of Tea ( which we had in our textbook) I think she tries to show for the poor people the outer doll’s house is not really that big a deal. The girl whose house it was was going on about the lamp. So these two girls too wanted to get a glimpse of it. Maybe also to show they were able to get that close to affluence to see the lamp.
