I am doing a charater sketch based on the play “Doll House” This is part of a big english essay worth 10% of my grade. I really need help plz. This essay is based on the character Torvald, I’m supose to list three character traits, and have two examples for each trait in the play.
If anyone could help me out, thanks appriciated.
Ok here are my three traits i chose for Torvald:
1. Naccistic (His love for himself)
2.Child Like
3.Charming and polite
Plz tell me if you think these best match Torvald’s character. I also need some examples in the play that strongly show Torvald’s character.

24|Dec|2009 1DO NOT USE THOSE TRAITS…they do not portray Torvald by any means. You could probably pull off the first one, but how about this for the next two:
2. Controlling
3. Condescending
For #2, you could use the examples of how he has control over the money of the family, as seen when Nora buys all the stuff for Christmas in the first scene. You could also use how he controls what Nora can do and/ or eat, as she hides her macaroons from him. You could also consider how he makes Nora dance for him (sexual, of course).
For #3, how about how he treats her as property, like when Nora leaves in the end and tells him that she was just his and her father’s “doll” with which to play. Another example is when Torvald calls her “squirrel,” as if she were fuzzy animal of a sort, not a human.
