I’m writing a dramaturgical essay and trying to think of a topic to write about. The only thing I can think of is to critically analyse character, Setting and author in a wide perspective. If you have any ideas that would be awesome, also if you know what type of play A Doll’s House is-whether it be Tragic, comedic, etc please put forth your answer. Thanks

14|Aug|2009 1If you are writing a dramaturge essay then you need to break down and research the script. When did Ibsen write it? Where was Ibsen from? Research the history of the era in which the play was written. Dissect the script to find odd lines or clues to help you further research the play itself and the characters. You have to understand the time period in which it was written in order to write about it. Dramaturge is the complete break down of the script, the author and the play itself. You break it down and the cross reference it with the research you have found in order to clarify the action or characters within the play.
From what I can remember Ibsen was a realist. It would be considered a classical drama.
